article featured in Accountancy Ireland Magazine.
Relate were pleased to have the following article
featured in the October edition of Accountancy Ireland.
The Accountancy Ireland Magazine is the official magazine
for the Association of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
Relate Software – Driving
Software Integration
DRIVE For Accountants is now the fastest selling
professional CRM package on the Irish market. Relate
Software have been busy over the last year signing firms
up. Installations are now running at 15 to 20 a month.
Relate have also been busy with their existing software
packages. Relate Company Secretary Version 3.0 will
be released in the coming weeks and contains a host
of new features including CROdisk. Relate are currently
finalizing dates for the launch of their new accounts
production package and they see a big shift in the market
in the coming months. This will bring Relate close to
the completion of a full suite of integrated software
for accountants.
”We will concentrate on Tax next year in order
to round off the suite. Although tax products have been
getting a rough ride over the last few years we see
an integrated tax manager as the way forward, integrating
with ROS, accounts production and DRIVE CRM as opposed
to a tax calculator.” says Ray Rogers,
Managing Director. |

Relate
brings Sage to the Competition Authority after Encryption
of the current release of their Accountants Production
Software
“The recent act by Sage Ireland to encrypt
the current release of its accounts production software
is a serious cause for concern for accountants in practice”.
This is according to Ray Rogers, managing director of
Relate Software, a software supplier to accountants
in practice both in Ireland and the UK.
“We believe the decision by Sage Ireland to encrypt
is not in the best interest of firms. Sage are in a
dominant position and this could be seen as an attempt
to DRIVE competition out of the market. We don’t
understand this move considering Sage has recently signed
up to the ICAEW xPS standard which allows suppliers
to exchange data between their applications”.
Installing the encrypted version 4.2 will effectively
lock users into Sage going forward. We believe if you
decide to move supplier both data extraction and interaction
will no longer be possible without Sage agreeing to
release the information.
Relate Software has written an official letter to The
Competition Authority and Accountancy Institutes to
make them aware of the situation. Concluding, Ray says,
“We strongly urge accountancy practices to consider
the implications of locking their business into one
supplier. This is a backward step and may see other
software houses being forced to follow suit against
their wishes”. |
